On April 20th, at 4:20pm, the sun was shining and the air was filled with the sweet smell of marijuana during an assembly which had for purpose to protest the criminal status of cannabis in Canada's statutes.
An estimated 5,000 tokers filled Parliament Hill to light up in order to show that people who use it as a recreational drug aren't the demons and heretics the media makes them out to be. Everyone I spoke to had regular employment, education and many were self-employed with successful businesses. The "druggie" stereotype has been demolished.
The day went without incident. The mounties were in a good mood (despite being upwind). There was music and merriment to be had.
Note: I forgot to adjust my camera clock when the time changed this spring. I thought it was going to happen automatically.
